THE FOUNDING OF AL MALATH

Al Malath was established in February 1993 with the aim to tackle an important human need. The need for patients with incurable illnesses not to suffer or feel needless and often endless pain. The need not to be seen as a lost battle or a medical failure, the need for palliative care.

OUR VALUES

Al-Malath Vision Statement

Al-Malath Foundation for Palliative Care is a non-profit foundation established to be an integral part of the community and to be recognized as the leading expert in hospice and palliative care by providing humane, quality and compassionate care for patients and their families

Al-Malath Mission Statement

To compassionately and creatively respond to the needs of terminally ill patients and their bereaved families by providing the best possible care that neither precipitates nor postpones death, recognizing their need to live fully with dignity and comfort until the end of life’s journey

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Al-Malath Foundation for Palliative Care, we believe that death is a natural part of life as is birth. We can demonstrate respect at the end of life by providing holistic support and care for persons in the last phases of terminal illness, so that they might live each day as fully and comfortably as possible, free from suffering

Al-Malath provides, without discrimination, a sound palliative approach to the relief of physical and emotional symptoms that neither hastens nor postpones death. The service exists in the hope and belief that by providing appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community that is sensitive to their needs, patients and their families may be free to attain a degree of physical, mental and spiritual preparation for death that will ease the way for them. We also are sensitive to the needs of the family caregivers to be supported in their efforts to provide care for their beloved family members, so we believe that they should be supported throughout bereavement.

We are dedicated to leadership in, and advocacy for the palliative concept of care, and will continually strive for dynamic and effective responses to changing community needs, and to this we are committed.
